38 for 38.

I have known Shaina since 1988.

Thirty-eight years of watching her think, question, create, inspire, celebrate, enlighten, predict, research, fight, protect, make people laugh, and insist that the world make better sense.

We recognize October 8 is the day we committed ourselves to each other. This year, the 38 days from September 1 through October 8 line up with the 38 years I have known her.

Too often, I’ve only professed my love, adoration, awe, dedication, and devotion for Shaina privately and not always aligned with my actions.  But for the next 38 days, I’m committed to doing both - to honor Shaina publicly and show her as well.  I thought about naming it SHAINA SEPTEMBER™ or SHAINA SEASON™ 2.  I still may.  Let me make sure I add that little “™” just in case.

Some days will hold a story. Some will hold a photograph, poem, song, small observation, or piece of our shared language. Some will be funny. Some will be serious. Some may simply name something remarkable about her that deserves to be said where people can see and hear it.

This is 38 for 38.
